Alaska Fishing ~ Nushagak & Mulchatna Waters

Off the Mulchatna there are several smaller Clearwater tributaries that draw anglers from all over with names like Chilikadrotna, Koktuli, Stuyahok. Then there is the mighty Nushagak and it's huge runs of pacific salmon with it's Chinook or king salmon run being the largest in the world. Call or email Alaska Rainbow Adventures for additional information.

More Info about this float trip

A couple of the more popular tributaries of the Mulchatna River are the Koktuli and Stuyahok rivers, both of these are known for their rainbow, grayling, king, silver and sockeye salmon fishing opportunities.  King SalmonA bit farther up the Mulchatna is the Chilikadrotna, or "Chili" as it is affectionately called, flows out of Twin Lakes a rugged alpine area of the Alaska range 100 miles southwest of Anchorage and flows 60 miles to the confluence with the Mulchatna river. There is excellent fishing in the Twin Lakes area for lake trout. Grayling, rainbow trout and Dolly Varden are available along the river. Over off the Nushagak a couple of important tributaries should be considered, one the Nuyakuk River is often bypassed by many because of the need to portage a class IV waterfall on the upper river. The fishing in this section should be experienced by anglers as it is amongst the best in the Bristol Bay region and truly worth any potential visitors consideration.  The other is the King Salmon river, small and well suited for groups perhaps even as a family trip.  Again featuring excellent wilderness values and really good fishing a most significant river.
